UX design one hundred years in the future: Welcome to Greenwind! This project explores how tech tools could work to support communities in an innovative and imaginative way, investigating themes of digital democracy and social platform architecture.

My inspiration was creating an experimental digital platform that facilitates community living in real life for the people of Greenwind, rather than making them addicted to digital feeds. This is also why there are none of the usual UX “tricks” and dark patterns that aim to keep users hooked onto a website/platform: Greenwind’s people only use it as much as they need to organise their community, and there is no monetisation goals behind it (this being a utopian, post-capitalistic society).

While I incorporated a futuristic UI look by using transparency and a holographic concept, I still made sure that the prototype made sense and follows basic UX guidelines for legibility and accessibility. However, I saw that the success of this work depends a lot on how well I am able to present and communicate it. Putting a lot of effort into the conception helped me build a solid foundation for the whole project, but I learned that effectively translating this into shareable design outcomes is at least equally important.
