My MSc dissertation project “Design for the Un-Real World” investigates aspects of user experience in virtual reality and exhibition design and curation through the development of a virtual exhibition on Victor Papanek and ideas of Social Design.
Through five themed rooms, visitors can explore various aspects of Victor Papanek's life and ideas, Social Design topics, and interactive artefacts. The fully immersive experience includes 3D recreations of design objects as well as multi-media exhibits to provide an engaging learning experience.
By utilising expert insights, an iterative process and an empathic design approach, I have intended to create an engaging learning experience within an immersive environment suited to users’ expectations and needs. I validate my assumptions and choices through user testing and gathering feedback, which suggests the largely successful implementation of my research objectives.
